About Me
Katie Cushing is a graduate student at the University of Alabama, pursuing an M.A. in Public Relations and Advertising with a concentration in Media Strategy. With a B.A. in Public Relations and Advertising and a minor in Audio Engineering from Jacksonville State University, Katie brings a unique blend of storytelling expertise and creative technical skill to her work.
Passionate about the power of narrative, Katie is driven by a desire to craft stories that not only resonate but inspire action. Her academic and professional experiences have refined her ability to craft thoughtful, emotionally intelligent campaigns that resonate with audiences across various platforms. Whether through strategic messaging, social media, or immersive multimedia content, Katie consistently seeks new ways to enhance a brand’s voice and vision.
Katie’s interest in audio engineering continues to shape her creative perspective. From mixing tracks to producing podcasts, she views sound as a storytelling tool in its own right—capable of building atmosphere, evoking emotion, and deepening audience connection.
Now immersed in graduate research, Katie is particularly interested in environmental communication, corporate social responsibility, and the role of emotional appeals in digital media. She is currently developing a thesis that explores how fear, hope, and symbolism are utilized in climate change communication on social media platforms.
A curious thinker and collaborative spirit, Katie thrives in environments that challenge her to think both strategically and imaginatively. She’s always open to new opportunities to create, connect, and push the boundaries of what effective communication can do.
